out
of California, Martin
Franco blends a potent mix of Colombian and Tropical
Carribean rhythms with funky urban dance beats. Colombian by blood,
and raised in Mexico City and New York City, Martin Franco brings
a beat heavy fusion of Colombian Cumbia, Merengue, Hard Salsa
and Urban Vallenato. Calling upon diverse influences like
Fruko, Lisandro Meza and Sonora Dinamita, Martin Franco follows
in the tradition of Afro-Colombian musical heritage.
A powerful vocalist and songwriter, Martin Franco leads his band
with an accordion-driven, saxophone wailing sound; showcasing
his unique original songs at clubs, dance parties, and festivals
througout California. On songs like "Califas",
a merengue-style party dance anthem that celebrates life in California,
Martin Franco has everyone laughing out loud while grooving on
the dance floor.
In the year 2000, Martin Franco released his debut CD
"Got Latin Soul"
. A tribute to life lived in the urban
barrios of the USA, "Got Latin Soul" featured songs like
"South
of the Border", "Raza
Roots", and "Colombian
Soul" which received airplay on Raza and Chicano
radio
shows throughout
the U.S.A.
Recently, Martin Franco was selected as one of the top
up-and-coming Latin songwriters by ASCAP and was invited to perform
at a special industry showcase in Los Angeles. Martin Franco is
currently working on his second album and performs
with his band throughout Northern California.
